Action Packed Day

Saturday, September 15th, 2007

I think I have honestly packed this day to the gills. I’m thoroughly exhasuted as a result! This morning started with the town’s big festival. The kick-off for said festival is a big parade and in order to find a decent parking spot one must arrive about 30+ minutes early. We managed to have pulled that off successfully and found our perfect spot to sit and watch.

There was a sweet elderly man standing next to us who would tap on the shoulder of every person who walked by handing out candy and would stick his hand out to get some. The people would think the old man had a sweet tooth and would fill his hand. Sometimes he would even tell the person handing him the candy that he had a little one who needed candy. He would then turn around and stick his full hand out to my daughter to scoop up and fill her bag with. He did this the entire parade. No matter how many times his wife would tell him to stop because she had enough he would keep on getting more. I don’t know who he was but it was the most incredible act of kindness and I likely will never see him again but will never forget him.

When the parade was over we hooked up with my best friend Mo and her son. Her brother has been hit with more serious medical issues and I wanted to help keep her mind off of it. We walked up and down the main street looking at all the arts and crafts. Her son was being a stinker but I convinced my daughter to hold his hand and the two walked hand in hand almost the entire time allowing us mom’s to enjoy the beautiful day.

We found some great food and talked to a ton of people. I love that about living in a semi-small town. When I was growing up – everybody knew everybody. Now the place has become quite large but there are still a few of us originals tucked in the pile.

After the festival we went to the popular kids playground in town. There was hardly a sole there because they were all at the festival! Our kids had a blast and got along so well. We played into the afternoon.

My daughter had a soccer game this evening out of town so we went home and prepared for that. It was a good distance drive so my daughter fell asleep in the car on the way there. She had some great shots but her team still lost. Poor kids have lost every game except their scrimmage. It’s rather depressing.

This evening I did some grocery and daughter’s winter clothes shopping and went to the pharmacy. I just got home and I’ll be damned if it isn’t my bedtime!

Night!

The Weekend So Far

Saturday, September 1st, 2007

Well, I woke up early and decided I absolutely needed to finish off one of my home improvement projects that has been lingering in small parts a good chunk of the summer. I chose to finish laying the tiles for the back patio and that triggered my neighbor to come over with her roto-tiller and till up an old nasty garden, etc. I worked from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. only breaking to run to the home improvement store twice (more tile and edging the first time and grass seed the second,) and for lunch a short while.

I…am…so….sore…..

It looks awesome but wow I am tired.
