Virus or bad food?

Monday, June 18th, 2007

It seems the stomach ick has spread. My parents have it and I was called to pick up my daughter because she has it. I already came home because I felt like hell. Could it be food from the party or a virus I started with Saturday and spread? I feel terrible for the others either way because I’m responsible for both!

Hotter than heck today. The airport closest to my house reported 96 degrees. Wowsers. I am so blessed to have air conditioning. I have several friends who do not. Yes, they are saving money but they are sleeping like hell.

Went to the store this evening to find something for us to try to eat. Had no appetite so it was tough. Ended up eating spaghetti noodles with a little butter, bread (she had butter on it I had plain), and applesauce. Aren’t you jealous?! Sheesh. Bummer of a way to lose weight!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Sunday, June 17th, 2007

My baby turns 8 officially in 42 minutes. The party was successful though very hot. It’s 90 degrees with a dew point in the 60’s which made it tough. We did a three legged race, silly puddy egg on a spoon race, pin the tail on the donkey and finally – a water balloon toss turned fight. THAT was the most hilarious part! I wish someone would have manned the video camera for all of that but the memories will hopefully last forever.

We had a great crowd. I’ll have to bring out the camera and hook it up to see the pictures and count heads. Everything went so fast but as the party coordinator it sorta ends up that way. Lots of action, time flies, felt like I missed it all.

Hard to believe 8 years ago today I became a mother. Wow…

My Baby is Growing Up!

Saturday, June 16th, 2007

Sunday, June 17th is my daughter’s 8th birthday. Can I just tell you that time has flown by?! It’s one thing to accept the fact she “graduated” from 2nd grade and will be a 3rd grader in the fall – but to turn around a week later and become 8 years old just blows my mind.

I have to say I’m really grateful that my ex-husband cancelled out of taking her tonight on his usual Saturday night sleep over because that would have meant it would be the first birthday morning I couldn’t wake her up with a happy birthday hug, kiss and wish. Even she remembers those times well. It’s special to us. She does the same on my birthday : )

We are having a big party tomorrow to celebrate. I have a list a mile long of things to do. I was out-of-order for about 3/4 of the day due to a horrible allergic reaction to the food I ate at a party last night. I was ready for my intestines to come trailing out eventually and I was keeled over in horrible pain for several hours. 3 Immodium, one dose of Pepto and a lot of water and gatorade later I’m better. Today’s party for our neighbors I ate very light compared to what I would normally do so I am not out of commission for the party tomorrow.

After today’s party my daughter and I filled a bin full of water balloons. I’m not sure how we are going to move it yet but it will be a perfectly hot day for the toss!

To my beautiful daughter: I love you very much and I wouldn’t trade any minute I’ve had with you for anything in the World. “Love you forever – love you for always – as long as I’m living – my baby you will be” – Mom

Her Summer Vacation

Wednesday, June 13th, 2007

Well, my daughter really maxed out this third day of summer vacation today. She was up at 6:30 and at daycare by 7:30. She left for the Zoo at 9:30 and was back at 3:30. She left there when grandma picked her up for her hour long tennis lesson. We came home to swim with her dad in our pool. We then ate dinner then took a 2 mile bike ride. She is now safely passed out beside me.

Read the previous post first then come back to this.

…Continued:

Now that is service! The power company was here within 45 minutes! Turns out the wire that snapped was the ground which would explain why my lights were flickering when a light, the TV or an appliance would turn on and off they told me. They called it something else besides a ground but said it was pretty much the same idea. Something about the electricity looking for a place to go but couldn’t because the wire was broken.

Can I just tell you how shocked I was to hear a heavy deisel sounding truck come down my street so soon?! I’m beyond happy about that! Shocked is more like it!

Storm damage

Saturday, June 9th, 2007

There was a major storm that blew through yesterday and I got the alll so heart stopping phone call from a neighbor who’s never called me at work before telling me I lost a limb from the big locust tree in the back yard. I instantly assumed it was through the house as this thing is massive. She then went on to explain that it landed on my power and cable tv lines running from the pole to the house. She called the electric company for me which was really sweet of her. When I got home the tree trimmers contracted with the electric company pulled in shortly after and cut the limb off the line for me. They said that the support cable snapped and I needed to call the electric company back and open a new ticket. I did and they said they’d be out last night. Well, some moron closed the ticket. So I called back tonight and found out the closed status and explained my concern is more that the lights dim every time any appliance or tv turns on . Even some of the lights cause the flickering. I just fear the wires are barely connected and there is a risk of fire.

She opened the new ticket and said as of midnight tonight they are hoping to have power restored to the entire metropolitan area then they will get to tickets like mine. She said they could show up in the middle of the night to assess the severity of it. Why do I sense a long night ahead? I’ll hear a car go down the street and probably wake up thinking it’s them. Or just my luck I’ll dream about it all night.

My entire yard was covered with debris. I had to rake it all as though it were fall. I even have the blisters to prove it. They say the line moved through at 100 mph. I can believe it.

Is this a sign for the sisters?:

So I was talking with one of my daughter’s classmates’ mom’s today at the city pool who lives on the street by the pool. She said she and her husband were home yesterday when the storms when through. She was standing in her house and said there was a sudden sensation of all the air getting sucked out of her house and her front door was rapidly shaking. She heard a loud sound – looked out her front window and saw a funnel in the grassy area of the ball diamond between the pool and their street. She screamed, her husband looked and saw it and they ran to the crawl space of their house. When she picked up her daughter from school the teacher reported she felt the same sensation as did the rest of the teachers who all grabbed their kids and ran to the basement of the school(since it’s across the creek from the pool I can see why they both felt it.) She said the tornado siren didn’t go off until after it went through. My daughter had said the same thing.

Tonight I drove around and scoped out the damage as the mom had told me you can see where the tops of the trees are gone in the same area from street to street. She wasn’t kidding. If you drive down every tree street there comes a point about two blocks in from South Boundary where there are enormous piles of live branches piled at the curb. Some houses are missing shingles. We sure lucked out not getting hit that bad!

Cya Water!

Tuesday, June 5th, 2007

I’ve been on blood pressure medicine for one week and today went for a follow-up only to find I’ve lost FOUR LBS of water weight in 7 days! WOW!

Let me tell you – I can certainly feel the difference! I love it! My joints don’t ache! I feel GOOD!

HOOYAH!

He’s Right

The last entry was from Darrell, my site host. Poor guy has been through hell the last few weeks and his server crashing didn’t help matters. Unfortunately, when the server crashed it took my site with it. Don’t worry – you didn’t miss much. I was too busy with yard work and my daugher anyway ; ) I think the highlights were as follows:

1. I went for a routine doc exam and my blood pressure was way too high for their tastes. So, I’m not on blood pressure medicine.

2. As a result of #1 I’d like to know how much water weight I’ve lost from the meds! I have seen the bathrooms as work this week more times then all three and a half years combined it seems!

3. My daughter got some sort of heat stroke or dehydration or something Tuesday night. Really scare stuff. She was listless and had a major headache. She hardly ate anything which for her is unheard of. She was like that all evening but bettter the next morning.

4. It’s been really hot here all week. The pool temp is up to 82 degrees now!!!!

5. My new pool filter arrived today! I’m so excited! I was babying the old one along and losing a lot of water.

6. Can you believe the filter only cost $40?! Of course there was shipping but WOW! …And it came with extra parts I needed spares of anyway!

7. Zoe actually just got her dew claw stuck in her collar loop. How on earth does a dog do that?!

8. She did awesome with her water therapy today! I was so discouraged after the last several sessions. See, once the dog shows signs of stress you have to stop. Today she lasted a 1/2 hour! It was a record! She was actually climbing on my shoulder for me to take her to the other end of the pool to do her swimming! Bummer was I couldn’t find the jean jacket they supply so I was scratched to hell and bleeding because she just had gotten her claws trimmed the night before.

9. Had my ex husband over for dinner with my best friend and her family so my daughter could stay longer. Yes, I’m awful. You try losing your only child every Saturday night! It’s hard!

10. My daughter had her last soccer game today. She did incredibly well. I’m sad to see it end. She really enjoyed it. So did I!

I am back Live and direct

Sorry kids for not being online. My provider (Darrell) has been having trouble the last 2 weeks with his server and he finally got it online. So you will see some old entries as he has been trying to recreate some of the archives. So tell your friends I am back.
